Obituary for Anthony Bivona

Anthony Bivona of Surprise, Arizona, a longtime resident of Lindenhurst and a retired Suffolk County Police Detective, died Thurs., Jan. 12, 2023. He was 82 years old.
Mr. Bivona was born in Brooklyn, the son of Patricia and Vincent Bivona. He graduated from Wyngate High School, Brooklyn.
Following graduation, he was employed by the A&P supermarkets. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.
He moved to Lindenhurst in 1962 and joined the Suffolk County Police Department, spending his entire career in the First Precinct. He retired and moved to Arizona 15 years ago.
He is survived by his wife Andy of Surprise, his five children and their spouses: Alyce of Lindenhurst; Patricia Zotto and her husband Michael of West Islip; Carol Steinberg and her husband James of Croton on Hudson, New York; Anthony and his wife Debbie of Rocky Point and Janet and her husband Ryan of North Carolina, and 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His his siblings Carolyn James and her husband Al of Bay Shore, Vincent of Lindenhurst and Marie Broderick of Middle Island, as well as by two stepchildren: Marc and his wife Virginia and Bretta and her husband Thomas and their children, all of Fort Salonga.
A graveside service was held at Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale Mon., Jan. 21, 2022. Services were under the direction of Lindenhurst Funeral Home, 424 S. Wellwood Ave., Lindenhurst.
