Obituary for Charles Tanner
TANNER - Charles John (Charlie), a lifelong resident of Lindenhurst, NY, passed away on December 21, 2020 at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Carol. Charlie is survived by his children, Connie Jordan (James), John Tanner (Diane), Chris Tanner (Beth) and Charles Tanner, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and his loving companion, Patti.
Charlie served in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1951. Charlie, an Ex-Captain, was an active member of the Lindenhurst Fire Department for over 70 years. He was the President of the Breslau Cemetery Association, a lifelong member and former Treasurer of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was active in many other local clubs and organizations.
Services will be held at Lindenhurst Funeral Home on Monday, December 28th from 6-9pm, Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lindenhurst on Wednesday at 10:30 am, followed by burial at Breslau Cemetery.
