Dennis is lovingly remembered by his children Dennis and Jeanine Hovanec, James and Mindy Hovanec, Tracy and Michael Stofa and Kelly and Robert Boehm; his grandchildren, Stephanie Hovanec, Dennis Hovanec, Cameron Hovanec, Colin Hovanec, Avery Hovanec, Jack Renner, Lacy Renner, Rebecca Stofa, Michael Stofa, Jessica Stofa, Nicholas Stofa and Nicole Ramistella and Tasha Boehm; his brothers and sister in laws, Edward and Debbie Hovanec, Richard and Renee Hovanec, Peter and Joanne Hovanec, Lawrence and Linda Hovanec, Michael and Nancy Hovanec, Eileen Roberto and Donald Gander, Patrick and Andrea Naughton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dennis was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 8, 1950, and went to school in West Babylon, New York. He was a veteran and served in the US Army. Dennis was an active member of the American Legion, Post 94, in Babylon, New York. He enjoyed coordinating the annual Veteran's parade and cooking and serving during the Sunday breakfasts. Dennis wholly committed 50 plus years to his career in construction and property management.

Dennis loved fishing, enjoyed his Yankees and Giants, and he would often be successful in converting your political views to align with his. When Dennis wasn't engaged in his career, he applied his expertise home and could "fix anything" from building bunk beds to beautiful homes. Dennis was always consumed to be busy, but most importantly, he always made time for his desire to passionately cook and feed his family and friends. He was selfless, prideful and loved his family immensely. Dennis was loved, and impacted by many, and will be immeasurably missed!
