Obituary for Edna Hines

Edna May (nee Tibbetts) Hines

Born May 16, 1925 in South Ozone Park, New York, Edna May was the sixth child of Harry and Beatrice (nee Grace) Tibbetts.

Edna studied and practiced Fashion Design and Dressmaking. She married Terrence E. Hines on Dec. 26, 1943. As a young war bride during WWII, she worked at the British Ministry of War Transport in NYC. After the war she transitioned from her job in the city to focus on home-making where she put her dressmaking and organizational skills to work to the benefit of her family. She worked various jobs over the years, including assembling electric motors for airplane controls.

Edna enjoyed various hobbies such as bowling, bingo, slots, and travel.

She was a member of the Nanticoke Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution and a descendant of Mayflower passenger Edward Doty.

She was loved and admired by many, including her five children, nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Edna is preceded in death by her husband Terrence and her first child Terrence Patrick.

She is survived by children Eileen Brodmerkel, Gerard Hines and his wife Roseann, Carol Wikander and her husband Stuart and Terrence E. Hines and his wife Patrice; grandchildren Audra Palumbo, Adam Brodmerkel, Peter Hines, Michael Hines, Laura Staggs, Megan Wikander, Timothy Wikander, Kevin Hines and Emily Hines; and siblings James Tibbetts and his wife Delores and John Tibbetts.

She passed peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 13, 2020.
