Obituary for Elisa A. Carrillo

Elisa A Carrillo of Tarrytown, New York reached the end of life’s journey peacefully at home on October 28,2020. Elisa, born in Brooklyn, New York was the beloved daughter of the late Aldo and Evelina Carrillo and cherished sister of Anna(Vitiello)and sister-in-law Carole Carrillo, and the sister of the late Edward, Adele(Ruotolo),Catherine(Palmer) and Lucille. She was a devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews. Elisa cared deeply for her many close friends and students in her Tarrytown community.

Elisa graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn and received her doctorate from Fordham University. She was a dedicated and compassionate scholar at Marymount where she taught history and served as the Chair of the History Department and for a time served as Dean of the College. During her retirement, Elisa volunteered in her local community. She was proudest of the success of those students she taught and mentored throughout her professional career. Elisa shared her passion for history and many experiences traveling the world with her students and family.

Services will be private for immediate family. Internment will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York on Monday, November 2 at 12:30pm. A Memorial service celebrating Elisa’s life will be held at The Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Elisa Carrillo to Marymount Convent , Attention of Sister Margaret Hoyne ,32 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, New York, 10591.

Elisa’s family cannot adequately express their thanks to her circle of close friends and caregivers for the compassion and care she received in the final weeks of her life.

Arrangements were handled under care and direction of Lindenhurst Funeral Home.
