Elizabeth (Betty) McGlynn, age 87, of Rockaway Park, NY died peacefully on Tuesday, February 8th. She was living with her niece, Mary (husband Kin) in Butler, PA at the time of her death.

Betty was born on August 2nd, 1934 to Mary and James McGlynn in Brooklyn, NY. After her schooling at St Rose of Lima and St Brendan High School, she went on to become a Catholic nun for 20 years for The Sisters of St. Joseph where she served in Puerto Rico and NYC. Afterwards, she spent many years as an ESL teacher in New York City. She was a devoted daughter and sister and a doting aunt to her nieces and nephews. Betty was very proud of her Irish heritage as a first-generation Irish American. She was also a proud New Yorker and loved going to theater, ballet, museums, shopping and all of the other excitement that NY has to offer.

She was predeceased by her afore mentioned parents (James and Mary), her sisters, Kathleen and Mary, her brother James and nephew Sean Grimes. She is survived by her brother John (and wife Pat) as well as her many nieces and nephews: Donald, Jimmy, Betty, Mary, Ray, Kevin, John and Chris.
