On Saturday August 12th Florence M. Wilt, 88, was called home to God. She was surrounded

Sara and John and many nieces and nephews.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents Florence and John Lenihan, her brother William
“Billy” Lenihan, sister in law Margaret “Margie” Lenihan.

She was born in Queens, NY to Florence G. Lenihan and John F. Lenihan on December 1rst,
1934. She grew up in Hamilton Beach, NY with her brothers William, John, and Daniel. Florence
would go on to enlist in the Marines at the age of 20 where she served for a year and a half. She
received an Honorable Discharge and went on to start a family. From there she would move to
Lindenhurst, NY with her 4 children and work at Savarin Coffee Shop in JFK Airport. She would
later go on to work at W.A. Baum, which was closer to home.

Florence took pride in her military time, along with her religion. Florence was an active member
at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Lindenhurst, NY and would often be seen in the
Lindy Diner after going to mass.

She had a love for her gardens, her family, her cats and dogs, and the neighborhood raccoons.
Her yard was always filled with the sounds of birds, the sights of butterflies and bumble bees,
the smells of her flowers and the feeling of love. Florence was often outside tending to her
gardens, bushes, trees and lawn.

Florence was also an incredible baker, pies, Irish soda bread and lets not forget her
cheesecakes! This is a trait that she handed to her daughter Patricia. There are many fond
memories for her grandchildren about being over her house and playing with the many blocks
and coloring books that she had collected. While over her house you often find her
grandchildren playing, coloring or watching soap operas after school. When sleep overs were
had the night always ended with ice cream sundaes and a nighttime prayer before bed.

Her contagious laugh and smile will be missed by all who knew her. While she will be missed by
her earthly family we take solace in knowing that she has reunited with the family members and
friends who have passed on and gone to meet Jesus.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice in honor of Florence or
donate to have a tree planted in her honor. As someone who loved nature and wildlife it would
have meant a lot to her.
