Obituary for Gary T. Cortina

In Loving Memory of
Gary Thomas Cortina
"Ho-Jo"

February 24, 1962 - April 06, 2020

Gary will always be known as " The Life of the party " and remains an inspiration to all.

All who new Gary loved him dearly. His dedication and self-sacrifice to family and friends will serve as a monument to the wonderful and exemplary person we know. His humility, integrity and selflessness continue to inspire those who know him.

To know Gary is to love Gary. He held his head high and gave endlessly to all. Gary had an uncanny way of teaching everyone the true meaning of life through the sharing of his love, laughter, playful nature and smile. He knew that a person's true wealth is the good he does in this world. And for those who believe that to be true, know that Gary lived a very rich life.

A poem in remembrance of Gary:

At the rising of the sun and its going down,
We remember Gary
At the blowing of the wind and the chill of the Winter,
We remember Gary
At the opening of the buds and rebirth of Spring,
We remember Gary
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of the Summer,
We remember Gary
At the rustling of the leaves and the beauty of the Autumn,
We remember Gary
At the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember Gary
When we are weary and in need of strength,
We remember Gary
When we are lost and sick at heart,
We remember Gary
When we have joys we yearn to share,
We remember Gary
When we have decisions that are difficult to make,
We remember Gary
When we have achievements based on him,
We remember Gary
As long as we live, Gary too will live. Gary is and will always be a part of our lives.

Gary looked at life as a journey and not a destination. With all our hearts, we say this to Gary:
"Enjoy this final journey, find what you may seek and cherish all that you may find. As we will cherish you. Thank you for all the kind memories you bestowed on us."

It was not the length, but depth of his life that mattered.

So to you Gary, we say:
"Thank you for being a great husband, son, brother, uncle, friend and Role model. We will never forget you."
