Obituary for Gerard McGibbon
Gerard “Roddy” McGibbon of Lindenhurst, New York, passed peacefully on January 24th, 2021
at the age of 61. He was surrounded by his wife Diana and their children; James, Emily,
Jonathan, and Victoria.
Roddy was a man who always put others before himself. A dedicated FDNY Fire Fighter, a
volunteer with Lindy Manpower for relief work after Hurricane Sandy, or just a helping hand to
anyone who needed.
His journey in sobriety was nothing short of inspiring. He celebrated over 7 years of sobriety and
was truly dedicated to the program. He befriended and inspired dozens of people along the way.
Roddy was the ultimate family man. Together with his wife Diana, they raised a beautiful family
and built a life they truly loved. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother to his 6 siblings,
an uncle to countless nieces & nephews, and a wonderful friend to many.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to The Tunnel to Towers
Foundation.
