Mom lived life and everyone who came into her life loved mom. She taught preschool because she adored being around small children, she coveted her time with her grandchildren always making sure she never missed the opportunity to give them little surprises for every holiday, it gave her as much joy to give as it gave them to get. Mom adored animals, feeding strays and the back yard birds.. Mom had a green thumb, she loved the outdoors, her garden and flowers of all kinds. She could bring a dead stick back to life and have it flowering in no time. Mom treated everyone with kindness and respect and had a zest for life unheard of at her age. She was spry and nimble with the appetite of a teenage boy right up to this past summer when a mishap sidelined her for a great portion of the summer nursing a wounded leg. She sprung back from that with her usual tenacity only to awake one morning ill, necessitating a visit to the ER that led to a diagnosis of metastasizing Uterine Carcino Sarcoma. Hospitalized from Nov 19- Dec. 21 for 16 rounds of radiation, she then transferred to a facility for rehabilitation to get her home. She made sure that even though she was bedridden at the holidays, she shopped for and picked out gifts and wrapped them in her hospital bed because she wasn’t missing out on on her favorite Holiday activity- watching all of us open our special “mom” gifts on Christmas! Mom NEVER stopped fighting. She never gave up, it looked bleak one day and then the next she’d be entertaining us with card tricks. Moms sense of humor was epic, her style was impeccable, she made crazy mixed up side dishes that no one including her could tell you what it actually was “I saw it in a magazine and I doctored it up” she loved to gamble, she cheated at cards and monopoly and made up her own words in scrabble and laughed the whole time she was doing it. Mom loved life and her family above anything else in the world. She never ended a phone call with out saying “I love you” and we will miss her forever . A great light in our life has been dimmed. But we know it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. love you Mom.. we love you
