Obituary for Lucille J. Russo
Lucille J. Russo passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023 at the age of 88 after a long illness.
Born in Flushing, NY to Lorenzo and Marie Macchia, she was one of four children. After graduating high school at the age of 16, she landed her first job where she would stay until the birth of her first, and only child. Years later, she rejoined the workforce as a bookkeeper, doing what she loved.
Lucille excelled at motherhood and was the foundation of her family. She never missed a special day and was her family’s constant supporter. She treasured her grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She was a fixture at dance recitals, cheerleading competitions, baseball games and volleyball tournaments where she was affectionately known to all as Grandma Lulu.
Lucille was a music lover and avid dancer. She was the life of the party and could always be found in the middle of every dance floor having a good time.
Lucille was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Daniel, and her sisters, Nancy, and Loretta. She is survived by her child Diane (Robert), her grandchildren Danielle (Dave) and Matthew and several nieces and nephews.
Lucille’s family will welcome visitors at Lindenhurst Funeral Home, 424 S. Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst, NY on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church, 210 S. Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst, NY at 9:45 am followed by Interment at St. Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY.
