Obituary for Ronald John Paolillo

Ronald John Paolillo
June 29th, 1952-April 29th, 2023

Ronald John Paolillo passed away on April 29th, 2023 in the comfort of his home. He was born on June 29th, 1952 to Lillian and John Paolillo in Ridgewood, New York. During his life he worked different jobs, but found his career with the MTA as a train conductor, where he devoted over 20 years of service. He moved from Ridgewood to Lindenhurst, and then West Babylon, where he would spend the rest of his life. He was the father of Henry Horstmann, Eric Paolillo, and Andrew Paolillo. He was also the legal guardian of his sister Susan's child, Ronald Lemire. There was never a missed opportunity for him to celebrate his children's accolades and accomplishments. A gifted athlete, talented musician, and passionate fisherman, he always passed on his knowledge and love of these activities to those he knew. He had amazing stories about some of the greatest musical acts he saw, and continually supported his children's musical endeavors. If he wasn't watching a Mets, Islanders, Knicks, or Jets game, you could find him fishing with friends and making life-long memories. Some of Ronald's best moments were coaching his sons Eric and Andrew in basketball, where he made a positive, long-lasting impact on every team he coached. Ronald's personability, passion, and selflessness were his most notable qualities which made him so loved by others. During his retirement, he loved going to the Nautilus Diner in Massapequa with his family and friends, where he became a beloved regular. He was also a staple in his neighborhood. You could usually find him in his yard, sitting in his usual spot, blowing bubbles for kids, making conversation with neighbors, meeting new people, and overall improving the lives of those that he came into contact with. He has now reunited with his mother Lillian, his sister Susan, and his best friend-- his dog Colin. A memorial service will be held in his honor Saturday, May 6th, from 11am-2pm at the Lindenhurst Funeral Home: 424 South Wellwood Avenue, Lindenhurst NY, 11757. All are welcome to come and share a memory about Ron.
